I’m happy to see this installed as it was quite tricky to do. Its shape was inspired by the pre demolition Tinsley cooling towers its pattern from Blackburn Meadows nature reserve and Bangladeshi and Somali fabrics designs reflecting on the rich cultural diversity in the area.

At this time whilst working on a large mosaic memorial to mining with troupe lo’eil pit shaft in the centre, it seems strangely fitting to have created a vertical sculpture in honour of the iconic towers that were used to cool during the burning of fossil fuels at power stations,. both charged with strong feelings of family history yet both a thing of the past, blasted apart by governments.
