Memorial to George Parsons ‘George’s touchstone’

The sudden death of 14 year old teenager George Parsons prompted a fundraising initiative in his local community, community groups and school friends raised a pot of money to pay for a permanent memorial for George in the nearby park.

Single Mum Vicky researched her options and eventually met me to discuss the commission.

George’s personality being very colourful and fun it was fitting to design a sculpture that reminds us of that spirit. Flying birds, colour, a musical score that he used to play on his guitar and the shape of a hand from a handprint taken in the morgue adorn the 3d shape.

This was an emotional project to work on and is now installed in Heeley People’s Park.
